Rules All of you should have reviewed the
new greco rules for this year. The explanation is self
explanatory. There are, however, some questions.
1.Where do the cautions figure into
a tie match ? 2. Must the wrestler be on his
knees if he chooses the clinch? 3. If a move is in
progress when the period (90 seconds) is over do we
allow the completion of the hold? 4. How strict are the rules
concerning negative wrestling?
1. fleeing the mat in standing or ground
wrestling 2.
fleeing the hold
3. total refusal to maintain contact 5. How will we use the video
review? If you any further questions,
please email me and I help find the
answers. Rick Tucci ctucci2698@aol.com
This will be discussed at
the European Championships at the end of March.
At the present time, they are not a factor. Only the
technical points scored in the match determine the winner
in a tie .
No, the clinch will be
done the same as in 2008. The wrestler, however, has an
option to choose the par terre position
which must have a knee down on the
mat. The knee can be between his opponents legs or
at his opponents side. The hands in the par terre
start must be on the back of his
opponent.
No, it is the same as if a
wrestler is in the air during a throw and time
expires, no score is given. The 30 seconds of ordered
ground wrestling is then applied. However, if one
of the wrestlers is in a danger position at the end of
the 90 second, the 30 seconds of ordered ground wrestling
is eliminated and the match continues.
If a wrestler blocks
his opponent with his head or hands, the referee must
verbally stimulate the wrestler at fault to stop the
illegal action without stopping the match. In such a
situation, the referee must not use the penalty with
a caution and a point that was used to penalize passivity
because this does not exist with the present
rules. The penalty with a caution and a point,
therefore, is only given in clear and indisputable
illegal actions such as
USA wrestling is looking
into using video reviews at major events as we have done
in the past. The FILA rule of one review per match
on a challenge by the coach will be modified into what we
have done in the past.
