FREESTYLE
CLINCH
Wrestlers must go
in to a 30 second leg clinch anytime a period ends
with a 0-0 score. The wrestler who clinches is
determined by a coin toss. If the wrestler with the
clinch fails to score in 30 seconds the other
wrestler receives 1 point.

GRECO ROMAN
CLINCH PART 1
Each period of a
Greco Roman match consists of 1 minute of wrestling
in the standing position and two 30 second
wrestling in a par terre position. Last point
scored determines which wrestler takes the
attacking position first. If the score is 0-0 then
the referee flips a disk. This video clip show the
correct mat markings and starting position.

GRECO ROMAN
CLINCH PART 2
Once wrestling
starts on the clinch position the wrestlers are
allowed to execute any hold or action and can win
the match by fall or tecnical superiority. As in
the FS clinch, the attacking wrestler must score in
the 30 seconds or the other wrestler receives 1
point.

GRECO ROMAN
CLINCH PART 3
If the match is
not won by either wrestler in first 30 seconds than
a second clinch is ordered with the other wrestler
taking the clinch. The consequences for false
starts and leaving the mat in the clinch are
explained here as is the USAW modification to the
clinch for 14-and-under age-group wresters.
